Pour in a good amount of Julian Schnabel, add Basquiat and a drop of Bacon, spice it with a wild non-conformistic nature, decorate it with a life-time experience of travelling the world encountering deep rooted tribal cultures, shake your artsy cocktail very well and finally baptise it before serving with the name of ANTON DIJKGRAAF.
Anton Dijkgraaf is – hallelujah – one of the last true species of the revolutionary genre of Pop-Art that breaks with the conventional by its playful flower POWER that takes the viewer off-guard.
As the curator of the Art Walk I was hoping to show and bring back to ‘reset your mind’ this kind of UNTAMED ART our today’s world is missing.
And now here it is for you and us created and kept alive by Anton Dijkgraaf.
Looking at his works, let yourself be surprised and even appalled sometimes by his free-spirited simplicity, be amused by his witty use of material and ride away with his lovely naughtiness of choosing symbols.
You will find this freedom of spirit in the Museo de Aceite in Calle Huerto.

Anton Dijkgraaf es —¡aleluya!— una de las últimas especies auténticas del género revolucionario del Pop Art, que rompe con lo convencional gracias a su juguetón «flower power», que pilla al espectador desprevenido.
Como comisario del Art Walk, esperaba mostrar y recuperar, para «reiniciar la mente», este tipo de ARTE INDÓMITO del que carece nuestro mundo actual.
Y ahora aquí lo tenéis, para vosotros y para nosotros, creado y mantenido vivo por Anton Dijkgraaf.
Al contemplar sus obras, dejad que os sorprenda —e incluso que os escandalice a veces— su sencillez de espíritu libre, divertíos con su ingenioso uso de los materiales y dejad que os arrastre su encantadora picardía a la hora de elegir símbolos.

The artist lives in Archez. Despite her French sounding name – she is fully Dutch. Which also means that she is very sportive. Her sportive nature shows in her style of art. Her sculptures are pure and minimalistic. Only the necessary, No overdoing. Her paintings are of the same aesthetics. She prefers to paint women’s portraits – by imagination (no model copy). The purity and clarity is there but then she plays with a detail that stands out. Like the overstretched long neck or the protruding lips.
And this makes it expressive. The minimalism of her artworks at the same time actually is a celebration of the feminine human kind.
You can adore her works in the Museo de Aceite.
La artista vive en Archez. A pesar de que su nombre suena francés, es totalmente holandesa. Lo que también significa que es muy deportista. Su carácter deportivo se refleja en su estilo artístico. Sus esculturas son puras y minimalistas. Solo lo imprescindible, sin excesos. Sus pinturas siguen la misma estética. Prefiere pintar retratos de mujeres a partir de su imaginación (sin copiar modelos). La pureza y la claridad están presentes, pero luego juega con algún detalle que destaca. Como el cuello alargado o los labios protuberantes.
Y esto las hace expresivas. El minimalismo de sus obras es, al mismo tiempo, una celebración de la naturaleza femenina.

She is a Belge national, living in downtown Cómpeta. Caroline Theodor is a concept artist. Besides artsy photography, her key domain is creating Collages.
From magazines or other print material of our everyday environment she spots details which our fast travelling eyes would miss catching. She then takes the cut-outs out of their former context and combines them into new visual stories. Her aesthetical compositions are surrealistic and symbolistic figuratives. There also are traces of the art-genres of Asian Paper Cuts and Western Cubism in Caroline’s artworks.
And she even goes beyond these influences by mixing the techniques of photography, collage and embroidery. Therefore the signature term of her art is “Papel y Mezcla” which also is her artist alias.
They are precious creations of a beautiful and deep mind.
You will find her exhibition in the brand-new art-venue of Cómpeta: the *Casa de Artistas* which will be inaugurated during the Art Walk.
Es una artista conceptual. Además de la fotografía artística, su especialidad es la creación de collages.
A partir de revistas u otros materiales impresos de nuestro entorno cotidiano, detecta detalles que a nuestros ojos, siempre tan apresurados, se nos pasarían por alto. A continuación, saca los recortes de su contexto original y los combina para crear nuevas historias visuales. Sus composiciones estéticas son figurativas, surrealistas y simbólicas. En las obras de Caroline también se aprecian trazas de los géneros artísticos del recorte de papel asiático y el cubismo occidental.
E incluso va más allá de estas influencias al mezclar las técnicas de la fotografía, el collage y el bordado. Por ello, el término que define su arte es «Papel y Mezcla», que también es su seudónimo artístico.
Son creaciones preciosas fruto de una mente bella y profunda.
Podrás encontrar su exposición en el nuevo espacio artístico de Cómpeta: la *Casa de Artistas*, que se inaugurará durante el Art Walk.

A born Argentinien, she lives in the campo of Cómpeta.
Fernanda graduated as an art-educator.
Beyond this she is a profound artist herself.
Rooted in the archaic mythological cultures of indigenous Latin-America yet living in the more Western culture of modern Spain, she makes this crossover experience the key topoi of her art. She loves to express herself by playing with mixed materials and with the 3-dimensional.
Wood, paper, paint and found objects are her elements to create art-objects that are more than just paintings but rather appear as installations telling multi-layered stories of circumstances. Her humour shines through when items stick out like toys of epiphanies popping up out of her philosophical mind which is analytical and musical at the same time.
In the Art Walk she will present a most witty Installation that interacts with the mindset and the reaction of the visitors of her exhibition.
Because it is so unique, her show will be one of the most surprising highlights in the Art Walk.

Arraigada en las culturas mitológicas arcaicas de los pueblos indígenas de América Latina, pero viviendo en la cultura más occidental de la España moderna, convierte esta experiencia de fusión en el tema central de su arte. Le encanta expresarse jugando con materiales mixtos y con la tridimensionalidad.
La madera, el papel, la pintura y los objetos encontrados son sus elementos para crear objetos artísticos que son más que simples cuadros, sino que se presentan como instalaciones que narran historias de circunstancias con múltiples capas. Su humor brilla cuando los objetos sobresalen como juguetes de revelaciones que surgen de su mente filosófica, analítica y musical a la vez
En el Art Walk presentará una instalación sumamente ingeniosa que interactúa con la mentalidad y la reacción de los visitantes de su exposición.
Por su carácter único, su muestra será uno de los momentos más sorprendentes del Art Walk.

Born and living in Cómpeta.
Photography is the passion of the artist Andrea Pérez. She not only is a photographer but also a scenic director. She not only catches a moment but also adds the suspense to it. The mystery of the eye and the lens is what fascinates her. It even made her construct her own camera oscura.
And ‘oscura’ is her photographic expressionism. A bit of Art-brut is in her aesthetics. It is not the obvious beauty or the colour she is interested in. It is the dark side and the hidden secret that ignites her curiosity. Her images are sceneries of solemnity and solitude of abandoned places and of the human condition. A touch of Emile Zola and Garcia Lorca shines through the aura of her imagery.

La fotografía es la pasión de la artista Andrea Pérez. No solo es fotógrafa, sino también directora escénica. No se limita a capturar un momento, sino que le aporta suspense. Lo que le fascina es el misterio del ojo y la lente. Esto la llevó incluso a construir su propia cámara oscura.
Y «oscura» es su expresionismo fotográfico. En su estética hay un toque de Art Brut. No es la belleza obvia ni el color lo que le interesa. Es el lado oscuro y el secreto oculto lo que despierta su curiosidad. Sus imágenes son escenarios de solemnidad y soledad de lugares abandonados y de la condición humana. Dave Shannon is a photographer of observation and empathy. His images do not seek to please by beauty and colour but by depth and storytelling.
The scenery he shoots reflects his perception of what is there beyond the obvious
He is as well an alchemist in his dark room.
The results are precious mostly black n white mirrors of what you missed to see.
This is art.
He says about himself:
“I started photography whilst I was a teenager. I was lucky enough to go to a school that had a darkroom and a teacher who was passionate about photography and was able to pass on his printing skills. Watching a print develop before your eyes in the tray never fails to amaze me. It must be remembered that darkroom techniques were the original Photoshop!
I mainly use black and white film for my photography and develop and print the photographs myself. Each print therefore will be unique and archival.
I managed to attain the level of Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society at Art College. The submissions were shot with black and white film and darkroom printed rather than with digital images.”
Dave Shannon es un fotógrafo que se caracteriza por la observación y la empatía. Sus imágenes no buscan cautivar por su belleza y colorido, sino por su profundidad y su capacidad narrativa.
Los paisajes que fotografía reflejan su percepción de lo que hay más allá de lo evidente.
Además, es todo un alquimista en su cuarto oscuro.
El resultado son preciosos reflejos, en su mayoría en blanco y negro, de lo que se te ha escapado.
Esto es arte.
Esto es lo que dice de sí mismo:
“Empecé en la fotografía cuando era adolescente. Tuve la suerte de ir a un colegio que contaba con un cuarto oscuro y con un profesor apasionado por la fotografía, capaz de transmitirme sus habilidades en el revelado. Ver cómo se revela una copia ante tus ojos en la bandeja nunca deja de sorprenderme. ¡Hay que recordar que las técnicas de cuarto oscuro fueron el Photoshop original!
Utilizo principalmente película en blanco y negro para mi fotografía y revelo e imprimo las fotografías yo mismo. Por lo tanto, cada copia será única y apta para archivo.
Conseguí obtener el título de Licenciado de la Real Sociedad Fotográfica en la Escuela de Bellas Artes. Los trabajos presentados se tomaron con película en blanco y negro y se revelaron en el cuarto oscuro, en lugar de con imágenes digitales.”

She is a Belge artist of a great individuality rooted in her skill of objective observation. She once produced state-of-the-art Pop artsy works with a touch of black humour … until fate decided to give her a challenge that diverted her way. Years of not being able to express herself creatively.
She moved to Cómpeta and here our lightness of being brought her back into the arts. She now is inventing herself anew in another genre than painting and photography: She forms sculptures made of egg-box paper-mash. It is quite a manufacturing process to magically transform a grey mash into the most witty and beautiful art-objects.
You can discover her classy featherly-light sculptures exhibited in the “Casa de Artistas” -by the way, a brand-new venue for art in Cómpeta.
Es una artista belga de gran personalidad, arraigada en su capacidad de observación objetiva. En su día creó obras de vanguardia de estilo pop con un toque de humor negro… hasta que el destino decidió plantearle un reto que desvió su camino. Años sin poder expresarse creativamente.
Se mudó a Cómpeta y aquí nuestra «ligereza del ser» la devolvió al mundo del arte. Ahora se está reinventando en un género distinto de la pintura y la fotografía: crea esculturas hechas de papel maché de cajas de huevos. Es todo un proceso de elaboración el que transforma mágicamente una masa gris en los objetos artísticos más ingeniosos y bellos.
Puedes descubrir sus elegantes esculturas, ligeras como plumas, expuestas en la «Casa de Artistas» por cierto, un espacio artístico totalmente nuevo en Cómpeta.

He is a signature artist of many disciplines.
Creative with his brush, he paints colourful scenes exploring faces like landscapes, where eyes fixate and fascinate the viewer. He contrasts the hyper-realistic glance with the softness of a scarf surrounding it.
By other topics such as architectural sceneries, his brush tells tales of imagination like Oscar Wilde or Edgar Allen Poe would put them in words.
There always is a touch of mystery and passion in his expressionist imagery.
The Art Walk presents his Moroccan series and an elegantly colourful escape into an Art Deco- Jugendstil- inspired artwork from his art studio.

Es un artista destacado en numerosas disciplinas.
Creativo con el pincel, pinta escenas coloridas en las que explora los rostros como si fueran paisajes, donde los ojos fijan la mirada y fascinan al espectador. Contrasta la mirada hiperrealista con la suavidad de un pañuelo que la envuelve.
En otros temas, como los paisajes arquitectónicos, su pincel cuenta historias de imaginación tal y como las plasmarían en palabras Oscar Wilde o Edgar Allan Poe.
Siempre hay un toque de misterio y pasión en su imaginería expresionista.

DUENDE
Beyond the Lens
Flamenco was never meant simply to be watched. It was meant to be felt.
As a photographic artist, I am drawn to the soul of flamenco and the richness of Spanish tradition. Every piece in DUENDE was created in Cómpeta, where flamenco has inspired my work for many years.
Flamenco is more than a performance. It is emotion, rhythm and expression.
Photographing flamenco is a constant challenge. The art lives in movement—in fleeting gestures, flowing fabric and moments that disappear in an instant. My aim is not simply to record a performance, but to capture the emotion within it.
Each image represents my personal vision of flamenco, where photography transforms movement into stillness. It is the unpredictability of every performance that continues to inspire me.
DUENDE is the meeting place of two lifelong passions: photography and the extraordinary art of flamenco.

Más allá del objetivo.
El flamenco no nació para ser simplemente contemplado, sino para ser sentido.
Como artista de la fotografía, me atrae el alma del flamenco y la riqueza de la tradición española. Cada pieza de DUENDE fue creada en Cómpeta, donde el flamenco ha inspirado mi trabajo durante muchos años.
El flamenco es mucho más que una actuación. Es emoción, compás y expresión.
Fotografiar el flamenco es un desafío constante. El arte vive en el movimiento: en los gestos fugaces, en el vuelo de los tejidos y en instantes que desaparecen en un segundo. Mi propósito no es simplemente documentar una actuación, sino capturar la emoción que encierra.
Cada imagen representa mi visión personal del flamenco, donde la fotografía transforma el movimiento en quietud. Es la imprevisibilidad de cada actuación lo que continúa inspirándome.
DUENDE es el punto de encuentro entre dos pasiones de toda una vida: la fotografía y el extraordinario arte del flamenco.

He is a “popular” artist in the Art Walks due to his energetic appearance: Meeting him “makes your day”. But surely also because his fresh playfulness is emitting from his artworks. The passionate art-creator he is, he always invents himself and surprises us anew with another style of art. Like restless Picasso who once said “Every day I do something new which I don’t know, so that I learn it.” In him David found his alter ego.
In David’s own words:
I am an engineer, teacher and artist with the soul of an inexhaustible traveller.
As an artist I explore to master new techniques such as working with watercolour, acrylics and dyes using all kinds of surfaces, for example, burlap, old wood, old paper or stone.
Different textures and primers are the focus of my works.
My mind never rests thinking about new creative projects.
This year you find him exhibited in the Museo de Artes y Costumbres (Calle Horno) in a group with 5 other inspiring artists. Absolutely worth your visit.
David Jiménez Berges
Es un artista «popular» en los Art Walks gracias a su carisma: conocerlo «te alegra el día». Pero sin duda también porque su fresca alegría se refleja en sus obras. Como apasionado creador artístico que es, siempre se reinventa y nos sorprende de nuevo con otro estilo artístico. Como el inquieto Picasso, que una vez dijo: «Cada día hago algo nuevo que no conozco, para aprenderlo». En él, David ha encontrado a su alter ego.
En palabras del propio David:
Soy ingeniero, profesor y artista con el alma de un viajero incansable.
Como artista, exploro para dominar nuevas técnicas, como el trabajo con acuarela, acrílicos y tintes, utilizando todo tipo de superficies, por ejemplo, arpillera, madera vieja, papel viejo o piedra.
Las diferentes texturas y las capas de imprimación son el eje central de mis obras.
Mi mente nunca descansa pensando en nuevos proyectos creativos.
Este año puedes encontrar su obra expuesta en el Museo de Artes y Costumbres (Calle Horno), junto a las obras de otros 5 artistas inspiradores. Sin duda, merece mucho la pena visitarlo.

He is the painter from UK who lives in the campo West of Canillas de Albeida. Mitch France is the artist of light and colour and of warmth and joy. His artworks guide you on a journey to places like Cuba and Morocco where he catches the natural atmospheric ambience in a minimalistic way.
Another characteristic aspect of his signature style is structuring portrayed scenes by patterns of cubism with a touch of Paul Klee.
He loves to narrate about street life when he captures and sketches a man with a cigar hanging in his mouth.
The atmosphere the artist creates is gentle and expressive at the same time. His artworks visualise the swinging mood of the Jazz he plays on his sax.
Discover and enjoy his works in exhibition in the Wen-interior shop (near the big parking deck and next to the ferretería in Av de la Constitución).
Es un pintor británico que vive en el campo, al oeste de Canillas de Albeida. Mitch France es un artista de la luz y el color, de la calidez y la alegría. Sus obras te guían en un viaje a lugares como Cuba y Marruecos, donde capta la atmósfera natural de forma minimalista.
Otro aspecto característico de su estilo personal es la estructuración de las escenas representadas mediante motivos cubistas con un toque de Paul Klee.
Le encanta narrar la vida callejera cuando capta y esboza a un hombre con un puro colgando de la boca.
La atmósfera que crea el artista es apacible y expresiva al mismo tiempo. Sus obras plasman el ritmo oscilante del jazz que toca con su saxo.

A young artist from Argentinia who set down her wings in Cómpeta before she continues travelling the world as the Nomad she is by concept-of-life.
She is an estherical and delicate artist with the sublime philosophy of the universe believing that earthly things and us beings need to evolve from the density of energies into a lighter form of being and finally disperse of all forms into the invisible to become pure emotion.
Her artworks express her concept and are a message to the visitors: see, feel and transform your seeing into feeling.
She is exhibiting in the art-studio of Cómpeta’s iconographic gem of art, Jo Dennison, whose spirit will watch over Valeria’s heavenly works.

Una joven artista argentina que ha desplegado sus alas en Cómpeta antes de seguir recorriendo el mundo como la nómada que es por filosofía de vida.
Es una artista esférica y delicada con una filosofía sublime del universo, que cree que las cosas terrenales y nosotros, los seres, necesitamos evolucionar desde la densidad de las energías hacia una forma de ser más ligera y, finalmente, disiparnos de todas las formas en lo invisible para convertirnos en pura emoción.
Sus obras expresan su concepto y son un mensaje para los visitantes: mirad, sentid y transformad vuestra visión en sentimiento.

Of Cuban origin, she lives in Torrox Park where her atelier is in a garage transformed into an Art Gallery-shop of her works.
Lidice celebrates life and you see it in her joyful artworks which are like tokens of pleasure.
The lyric: “Kids are jumping and the cotton is high …”
comes into your mind looking at her art.
She loves creatures of nature – butterflies, bugs – which she feasts on by making them up in precisely microscopic details and then preciously upcycles them into mosaics that are jewels of art – and truly, there even is gold in some of her artworks.
You find her exhibition in the Museo de Artes y Costumbres (number #21 on the Guide Map) in a most interesting group show that is very much worth your visit.
De origen cubano, vive en Torrox Park, donde tiene su taller en un garaje transformado en una galería-tienda de su obra.
Lidice celebra la vida y eso se refleja en sus alegres obras, que son como símbolos de placer.
La letra: «Los niños saltan y el algodón está alto…»
te viene a la mente al contemplar su arte.
Le encantan las criaturas de la naturaleza —mariposas, insectos—, de las que se deleita recreándolas con detalles microscópicos de gran precisión para luego transformarlas con esmero en mosaicos que son auténticas joyas artísticas; de hecho, en algunas de sus obras hay incluso oro.
Podrás encontrar su exposición en el Museo de Artes y Costumbres (número 21 en el mapa de la guía), dentro de una muestra colectiva de lo más interesante que merece mucho la pena visitar.
